Exoskeletons will allow to improve the mobility of children with cerebral palsy Source:

Cerebral palsy — it is a chronic non-progressive motor violation, usually resulting from lesions or anomalies in brain development in the perinatal period of fetal development. In the result of cerebral palsy usually suffer from a General mental activity of the child and his ability to move. And this kid can't do and survive without the help of adults. The staff of the National Institute of health has developed and is currently testing an exoskeleton that can make the patients with cerebral palsy children more independent and mobile.

Many children with cerebral palsy suffer from so-called "squat gait", which is characterized by excessive bending of the legs at the knees. Approximately 50% of these children no longer even try to walk even before the moment comes of age. That is why the staff of the National Institute of health decided to develop robotic exoskeletons for children's feet, allows patients with cerebral palsy easier to make steps. According to the first test, six of the seven subjects children has demonstrated tangible improvement during the walk and were able to overcome a distance with wearing them on the exoskeleton.

The Exoskeleton helps children's feet keep the right shape and bend angles during walking, however, he does not take them control over the movements. A team of scientists who created the device, wants to know: will their invention over time to improve the ability of children to navigate on their own without wearing them on the exoskeleton. Today over creating user-friendly exoskeletons are plenty of teams of engineers around the world. Someone they need to make the transfer of people , and someone — to make soldiers . But if so you can help sick children to learn to walk – this will be another wonderful application of this technology.
