Birds can see colors that we cannot even imagine

And all because nature has given them a more advanced system, because they need it for communication and finding food.

The enviable ability of birds was discussed in the research . The number of colors that an animal perceives depends on the number of light sensitive cells in his eyes. To prove this, researchers from the United States and Canada, conducted an experiment. In the framework of scientific work, they checked the sight of the Hummingbird species tricolor selasphorus (Selasphorus platycercus). Scientists arrived at one of their habitats and established on earth two drinkers. One of them, they poured plain water in the other sweet that hummingbirds love. The troughs were covered with LEDs of red, green, blue or ultraviolet color. Sweet water is a different color from the usual, and because of the combination of four colors for a sweet tone could only see a Hummingbird.

When the birds remembered how highlighted tasty water, the researchers changed the drinker places. They watched the reaction of the birds from a distance of ten meters and noted that the tiny creatures quickly noticed the substitution and immediately flew to sweet water. This experiment was repeated for three years, and almost with the same result. Therefore, the fact that birds are able to distinguish far more colors than we do, no doubt about that.
According to scientists, the feathers of the Hummingbird and flowers are partly painted in the colors that we can't see. This implies that the perception of a larger number of colors necessary for them to communicate and find food. This assumption is true, at least for hummingbirds. As is the situation with other species of birds, scientists still unknown — it is necessary to conduct additional studies.
