The Discovery was made in the course of the study, which was conducted from February 2016 to December 2017. During this time, Indian scientists have made about 1445 photos 250 Asian elephants living in different parts of India. After reviewing the collected data, the researchers came to the conclusion that today in mixed families live only 43% of males. The remaining 33% are males singles, but 23% of male elephants live and are secured together. On average, one group listed about 3 of the elephant.
Where do elephants live?
Often groups of males are found in not the most comfortable for living areas. After studying the photos, the researchers noticed that elephants were grouped in areas without forests, where it is extremely difficult to get food, and there is a high probability to meet people. As the production of food is given to them with difficulty, individuals from the men's groups are very different from males from mixed families — they are much bigger than them and have more power.
