The Ancient Egyptians believed that after his death man goes to trial before the God of the underworld Osiris, but the path to it is littered with dangerous obstacles and monsters. Polish scientists have proved that the ancient Egyptians believed in it all so that built the road to the underworld on the Ground, near the grave sites. One of them was found near the pyramid of king Djoser — the path is a set of tunnels with various obstacles. Inside one of the rooms, archaeologists found a subject, which, in the opinion of the ancient Egyptians, could protect the dead from monsters.
The Building was excavated on the site of the Egyptian settlement of Sakkara, where is one of the very first pyramids in history, built by the Pharaoh Djoser. It consists of six stone steps, which were built around 2650 BC. When the length and width 129×115 meters, the height of the pyramid is 62 meters.
To the North of the pyramid the servants of Pharaoh built his memorial temple from 10.5-meter wall and surrounding it by a deep ditch. Earlier in the burial place the archaeologists found several long tunnels leading to the pyramid of the Pharaoh. One of them was very different from the rest — she was in a small room, which was decorated with drawings of snakes and a harpoon.
Pyramid of Djoser
According to the head of the excavations outgoing Karaskevica, this ancient artifact could be like one of Pharaoh's pending tests, and his weapon against the monsters. Probably Djoser before his death had also to learn defensive spells, which, according to the legend, help the dead pass all prepared for them to test.
The Dry moat around the burial, too, was a symbol of the path to the underworld. It was examined by archaeologists in the early XX century: it was found on the stairs and rows of indentations on the walls, the purpose of which still remained a mystery. Now the archaeologists are almost certain that he, too, served as a model of the way to the underworld, and was full of traps.
the dig
With all this, the burial of Pharaoh Djoser is still very mysterious structure. 20 metres from the room with the harpoon there is an underground passage, which can lead to another tunnel. Unfortunately, at the moment to study the other side of course is impossible, as it is littered with huge stone. Scientists are already trying to pass through the barrier, so in the near future, we know that they are hiding.
In Addition to the mysterious structures on the territory of the pyramid of Djoser, the archaeologists found a dozen poorly preserved mummies. Judging by their wretched state, and the burial in the dug out in the sand pit, these people were not wealthy. Some of the dead were stored in wooden sarcophagi with hieroglyphs that were clearly simply copied incorrectly — scientists are unable to decipher them.
In recent years, Egypt is surprising in its rich past. Recently archaeologists have found one of the most ancient fortresses in history, which was once partially destroyed during the siege.
