A new method of diagnosing diseases based on the purification of the exhaled air

This is certainly true, but the composition of exhaled air to determine the mass of life-threatening conditions that can help diagnose a number of pathologies. Moreover, the greatest danger in this case are the water vapour that "dilute" the pathological agents and prevent their registration.
As you know, some waste products are excreted through the lungs. And collecting data on the composition of exhaled breath it is possible to learn about what is happening in the body. The most obvious example is banal hangover, when the lungs are derived aldehydes. To analyze the composition of the air allows the infrared spectroscopy, but, as already indicated, in its results significant distortion makes the content of water vapor.
According to the Journal of Breath Research, a joint team of scientists from Russia and Germany have created a way to remove these vapors. Their method is based on the difference of physical properties of gases. The fact that each gas has its own transition point in liquid phase. Therefore, creating certain conditions it is possible to separate "one part" of exhaled air. Given that the composition of air is known, and that it is saturated with water with a high partial pressure becomes enough just to separate it.
Experts have created a special cooling condenser, which was tested on 5 people aged 35 to 77 years. To collect a liter of exhaled air takes about 1 minute. And after the procedure, the water content of exhaled air is reduced to 2500 times. After the application of infrared spectrometry in the exhaled air, in addition to the standard components, was discovered methane, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, acetone, acetaldehyde and isoprene, which are usually "masked" by water. During the series of experiments the content was in the normal range, however, in the study of "artificial" samples of air, saturated with the dangerous content of these substances, IR spectroscopy did not reveal violations to the "saturated" air, in that time, after "cleaning" the dangerous components are recorded without any problems.
