China plans to launch satellites, which will cover the city streets

Every day for lighting the city streets at night to spend huge sums in the interests of economy and ecology would these amounts be reduced. But reduce the quality of light or number of lights is not reasonable from the point of view of security. What should I do? The Chinese authorities believe that it is possible to use natural light, which will reflect the special satellites from the Sun and illuminate the whole city in the dark.

Start an ambitious project planned for 2020, and to participate in the experiment will be to Chengdu the capital of Sichuan province, located South-West of the country. According to the statements of authors of the project, after 2 years in orbit the Earth will be sent 3 satellite mirror with a reflective surface that will reflect light directly into the city of Chengdu. If all fails, then the satellites will be shining 8 times brighter than the Moon, and electricity savings will amount to 1.2 billion yuan (about 240 million dollars) per year. As stated by one of the developers of the project of Wu, Chunfeng research Institute of aerospace science, technology and microelectronics Chengdu

"Brightness and service time satellites are easily adjustable, and the lighting can be controlled within tens of meters. Three "artificial moon" will work alternately to significantly reduce energy consumption in urban infrastructure, especially in the winter."

It is Expected that the satellites will orbit at an altitude of 500 kilometers above the Earth and will illuminate the region with a diameter of from 10 to 80 square kilometers.

The Chinese news Agency Xinhua also reports that the idea for the project originated with the creators of under the impression from one of the French artists who portrayed hanging in the sky necklace of mirrors, illuminating the streets of Paris at night.
