Discovered genes that play a key role in the aging process

Any living organism on our planet is influenced by such a process as aging. It is inherent in our nature, but people always wanted to find the cause of this phenomenon and to influence it. The victory over the aging process is not yet mentioned, but the genes responsible for these processes, it seems, has finally been discovered.

As the publication MedicalXpress, the opening session are experts from Exeter University (UK). They were able to identify a group of genes that play a key role in the aging process. As it turned out, they regulate the splicing factors. But first we need to understand what it is.

Splicing, roughly speaking, is the process of "disarticulation" of the nucleotide sequences of RNA molecules and stitching sections together. Thus, the formation of the RNA molecules. The process of splicing is regulated, in turn, next proteins, forming specific "signaling pathways" that bind DNA and can activate or deactivate relevant genes.

The Above signaling pathways quite a lot and in the course of research scientists from UK found that blocking certain signaling pathways, namely ERK and AKT, contributes to decrease in aging cells and rejuvenate cell cultures. These paths are interconnected with the two corresponding genes: ETV6 and FOX01. And acting on them, you can achieve much more than slow the aging of cells.

At the moment nobody is claiming a "cure for old age." The study is aimed primarily at combating chronic diseases, Oncology and disease-causing cell death.
