For cancer created a lot of drugs and surgical treatment. But a group of scientists from Japan's Waseda University have managed to come up with something radically new: a wireless implant for cancer. Moreover, for treatment in the implant, the light is used.
The Method that was used by the Japanese is called "photodynamic therapy" and it is based on the use of photosensitive particles. These particles are injected into the tumor (or blood in order to reach the desired location) and then activate the light with a certain wavelength. The dose of radiation hundreds of times smaller than common radiation therapy. It is logical to assume that in this case the tumor must be in the place where "you can Shine" and that was the main problem of this method. However, the experts at Waseda University found a solution. Scientists have created a fiber optic wireless device, which by means of a small surgical operation may be placed on the surface of any organ. It is necessary to make a skin incision and subcutaneous structures. The bodies of the gadget is attached without the use of seams.
Efficiency was tested during a series of experiments: laboratory animals with cancer of different localization introduced the photosensitive substance which was accumulated in the tumor. Then, in the tumor implant was placed and the tumor was illuminated alternately with light of red and green. As a result, all animals znachitelno tumor decreased in size, and their growth has also slowed down. Moreover, some laboratory animals even cured of cancer this way.
