Smooth and reflecting Unusual Martian rock has attracted the attention of NASA scientists, after which they decided to divert Curiosity from him. While the probe landed on Mars this week, "Curiosity" silently studied the Red planet, exploring a unique area of gray rock in outcrop Highfield. "Curiosity" had been in Highfield before, but NASA scientists wanted to look at four previously discovered stone — including unusual smooth stone that looks like a piece of gold.

I suspect that this stone, called little Colonsay (Little Colonsay), is a meteorite, but NASA scientists can't see this, unless you do chemical analysis. The ChemCam instrument on the Rover consisting of camera, laser and spectrograph, allows you to split a chemical laboratory on site.

found the Rover?

What the Rover was able to stumble upon a meteorite, no surprise. He had already found a few such items over the years of research, for example, a large metal meteorite in 2015, and brilliant Nickel-iron meteorite in 2016.

With all this, the Rover examines a rock Flanders moss, which received its name in honor of its dark color. Again, NASA will not know for sure why this breed is dark, while "Curiosity" will not analyse the sample after drilling. The other two stones, Forres and Idon will also be explored, while "Curiosity" travels to Highfield.

Unfortunately, the "Curiosity" only one mobile Rover on the red planet at the moment. His compatriot, the Rover "opportunity" has failed, because the dust storm made him go into hibernation, from which it has failed. NASA has not yet announced about completion of the mission, the outcome of "opportunity" will be known next year.
