Scientists develop most detailed 3D model of the human body Source:

Scientists from around the world are trying to create the most detailed history map of the human body. Ideally, the completed 3D model is to show how tissues and organs function and interact with each other at the cellular level. In the future this system may become advanced medical tool to identify people of potential health problems long before the manifestation of physical symptoms.

The Creation of the 3D model involved the establishment of the National institutes of health, referred to in abbreviated form as the NIH. The project is called HuBMAP, which stands for Human BioMolecular Atlas Program. According to scientists, they create an "open, global framework for a comprehensive display of the human body".

Several research groups have already received grants to get started. The head of one of them is a Professor of computational biology and machine learning Ziv Bar-Joseph (Ziv Bar-Joseph). According to him, the project HuBMAP is the spiritual successor of the project "human Genome".

We go from 1D to 3D. This is one of the following steps to a complete understanding of human biology.

The Researchers will have to deal with large volumes of data. It is believed that displaying even a few thousand brain cells may require hundreds of gigabytes of space. The researchers ' work would amount to petabytes of data — to understand the scale of it is enough to recall that every day Google processes 25 petabytes of information.

Ziv Bar-Joseph will be doing computational tasks. In addition there is another group that will take over data storage and the development fabric cards. According to the schedule of the NIH, the project HuBMAP will be ready by 2025. In the next four years it will spend $ 54 million.

How do you think a detailed model of the human body will change the future of medicine? Their assumptions to write about .
