Engineers from the Laboratory of non-lethal weapons of the Pentagon demonstrated the innovative laser guns, whose main task is to transfer deafeningly loud sound over long distances, up to tens of kilometers. In the future, the researchers plan to transmit with this device a synthesized human voice. Meanwhile, during the demonstration we show the basic working principle of the gun, which is based on the laser light.
The Cannon uses two types of lasers. Femtosecond laser creates the aimpoint plasma ball, which, in turn, the beam has a narrow range nanolaser. Plasma sphere responds to the impact of the deafening sound and bright flashes of light. During several field tests, the researchers were able to generate a plasma clot at a distance of thirty kilometers from the installation.
In Addition to the stunning noise, the installation will soon learn how to transmit the human voice with the volume up to 150 decibels. Such non-lethal weapons the us military is planning to use in the course of military operations, and to disperse unauthorized rallies and protests.
