The Fight between tanks and anti-tank weapons comes from the time of the First world war. Every time the tank is equipped with enhanced armor, the opponents come up with more powerful projectiles that can easily penetrate. The military can't always thicken the armor of the already extremely heavy machines therefore they have to invent new methods of protection. For example, the company Lockheed Martin has established a system of MAPS to change the trajectory of the shells — her test was recently, and almost perfect.

Project Modular Active Protection System (MAPS) developed with 2014. It is a modular system for "soft destruction" anti-tank missiles with the help of the frequency impulses, which are supposedly "blind" shells and forced to fall in an entirely different place. Most likely, the new technology will be used in conjunction with "hard" methods, when the enemy missiles are destroyed by return gunfire.

A Basic set of MAPS consists of a controller, user interface, system power management and software for proschityvaniya the trajectory of projectiles and decision-making. Due to the open architecture, the system allows the use of third-party modules to perform a specific task. It can be installed on all existing models of tanks.

The efficiency of the system was confirmed during a six-week trials on a military base "Redstone Arsenal" in Alabama. The tank is equipped with sensors MAPS, successfully changed the direction 15 of 15 anti-tank guided missiles and they crashed before they reach the goal.

The success of the army testing shows the effectiveness of the system of active protection that can quickly be updated with new components to meet specific mission requirements.
