Japan and USA are working on creating a dispatch service for drones Source:

A Number above our heads has grown rapidly in recent years. Drones take pictures, shoot video, they deliver and carry out sports. The idea of creation of dispatching service, controlling the movement of drones in the airspace, emerged long enough. But no one dared to be taken for the implementation of such an ambitious project. No one to this day. Japanese online shop Rakuten in conjunction with startup AirMap from the United States has begun to develop a control system for drones.

The Main objective of the system is simple: it is necessary to track the position of drones in space and to ensure that their trajectories do not intersect. Of course, speaking of large online stores like Rakuten, it becomes clear that such a system simply does not, given the huge number of products delivered daily. The Japanese plan to deliver goods to buyers within the hour after placing the order – the task was very ambitious but quite feasible.

If you think that the system will never be released outside of Japan, it is not so. The developers of the AirMap has agreed to undertake the project because in the future I plan to become a single air traffic control for drones on U.S. soil. However, before that, you will need to obtain a certificate of the Federal office of civil aviation, without which it is impossible to control any air traffic. AirMap is able to control the drone flight at the altitude not exceeding 152 meters and above already begins the area of responsibility of air traffic controllers. The future control system will include a detailed three-dimensional maps of cities, as well as algorithms of calculation of optimal trajectories of flights from one point to another.

Behind AirMap vast experience with drones. They created the algorithms currently used in 80% of consumer drones, including products from companies such as 3D Robotics, Yuneec, Sensefly and others. In addition, at 130 U.S. airports use the system D-NAS, also developed by engineers AirMap, air traffic controllers warning about the dangers of close spans of drones.
