Neon take over the world?
Today launched a consumer exhibition CES 2020. Companies from around the world present interesting products, but we will focus on updates from Samsung. We will focus on the artificial man Neon glasses augmented reality and intelligent robot Ballie. It should be noted that the Neon — this is a startup, which is not directly connected with Samsung, but the funding for doing exactly the Koreans.
Even before the announcement of Neon appeared in Internet videos showing the capabilities of the project. Many assumed that Neon will be replacing the Bixby, but in reality it is only the artificial people who are able to maintain a dialogue without access to the Internet. It is, rather, a demonstration of imaging technology artificial people, rather than attempt to create a full-fledged assistant.
The Project is developed by Samsung Technology and Advanced Research Lab (STAR Labs) under the direction of pranav Mistri. The aim of the project: the creation of artificial entities that are able to copy human behavior and have their way. Neon signs — the equivalent of the Tamagotchi, able to talk to them, observe their behavior, however, any useful information they provide.
Neon can be a great base for replacement teachers, the leading TV programs of financial advisors. Each neon has its own unique habits and behavior. Neon signs — it is rather a new kind of being, which is a digital copy of a person.
However, it is not entirely clear what offers us the Pranava. Was not told about the technologies that underlie the neon. We only know that they work on the basis of two decisions: CORE R3 and SPECTRA. The first is responsible for the responsiveness and drawing neon in real time (they are able to respond to user actions in a split second), the tasks of the SPECTRA comes with learning, emotions and memory neon.
Not happy with the fact that the video demonstration of the capabilities of neon, who had previously published on the social network Reddit, it's just an attempt to show what can be neon. In practice, however, actual demonstrations have not yet been. Neon — a bloated project that before leaving made a lot of noise. This is a problem all startups — they're trying to attract the world's attention, but then quickly blown off because of excessive and loud statements. I'm afraid that the same fate may touch and Neon.
This is, in our opinion, the most interesting product of the exhibition. Robot Ballie is a small ball with built-in camera, which is able to move around the house and interact with smart appliances, depending on the situation. The video above perfectly demonstrates the capabilities of the robot. He will be able to activate the cleaner, if the dog is in the house to overturn the food on the floor. It's NAP time? The smart robot will close the curtains and turn off smart lamp. Ballie can be a real helper. It may be required to protect homes from intruders and suggestions during fitness classes. The cost and release date Ballie has not yet been disclosed.
At the exhibition, Samsung introduced one more interesting gadget — it's AR glasses. With them the company showed the exoskeleton GEMS, which was presented last year. In combination with the glasses GEMS will allow the owner to do fitness with a personal trainer. As in the case of Ballie, the company has not yet disclosed the price and start of sales of AR points.
In the past, Google introduced AR-glasses Glass, however the project was closed in 2017. Microsoft also had experience with AR with the release , but we can't call them massive, they focus on a b2b model.
What kind of Samsung products in the exhibition did you find most interesting? Robot Ballie seems the most unusual and interesting. At least nothing like the previously did not show us. In General, of course, all three products are useful and important for the entire market. Samsung in 2018 has announced investment in the development of artificial intelligence $ 22 billion. These are serious numbers, and this is the difference large companies from a little-known Chinese brands. Is Samsung ready to develop the market and move technology forward. For this they, of course, thank you.
