A monthly injection will replace the daily intake of HIV medications Source:

People who are diagnosed are forced to end their lives every day to take very expensive drugs that can suppress the level of virus in their body. In the future the situation may change dramatically, because an international group of scientists presented the results of their two years of research, the purpose of which was the establishment of a drug with a monthly injection into the body of an HIV patient to change his daily intake of pills.

The resulting solution for injection includes drugs kabuterimon and rilpivirine. According to the results of clinical studies, 87% of the 309 patients who were diagnosed with HIV with monthly injections failed to achieve undetectable viral load (below 50 copies of virus per milliliter of blood). In other words, scholars came to save people from having to take daily pills, while reducing the risk of transmitting the virus to others, as well as the likelihood that the virus will develop resistance to the drugs. The results of the research can be read in the journal .

In the control group the subjects who took the traditional pill, undetectable levels of the virus could only reach 84% of patients. The success of clinical trials is sure to please people who are forced to fight the human immunodeficiency virus, because the rejection of daily pill-taking significantly . No longer have to adhere to a specific schedule of the drugs and worry, if for some reason forgot to take the medicine. In the near future, the researchers plan to test other combinations of drugs.
