In Switzerland printed is capable of beating heart Source:

Heart printed research group at ETH Zurich in Switzerland — that's where the specialists with the help of 3D printing technologies and printed artificial heart made out of silicone.

Other scientists have already begun printing organs on 3D printers, some have even attempted to print the circulatory system, but the heart is much harder to do. While to print an exact copy of the human heart no one came, moreover, scientists still do not know how to approach this, but work hard and try new things.

Zurich Researchers note that their heart is in disrepair after only 3000 thousand cuts, which is about half an hour of work. However, it looks quite realistic, and operates similar to a real heart way, complete with pumping fluid similar in density to blood.

Heart Weighs 400 grams and consists of left and right ventricle with additional camera that using compressed air is inflated and deflated by pumping the fluid.

Scientists believe that to stop there, and therefore, they will continue to explore the possibilities of three-dimensional printing and use this and other technology to print organs of the cardiovascular system. Even if everything goes very smoothly now, in the future the situation can certainly change.

— We want to create an artificial heart that would be the most similar to the present in order it is even possible to transplant a patient — said one of the researchers of the group of ETH Zurich.

The Modern artificial hearts are typically used as a temporary option, which allows the patient to wait for a donor heart transplant, but donors are often not enough, so for many people a full artificial heart could be a great option.
