Manufacturing the PlayStation 3 in Japan will soon end Source:

The Game console of new generation PlayStation 4 from the Japanese company Sony has 3 years old, but the production of the previous generation home gaming console – the PlayStation 3 is still ongoing. And yet all good things sooner or later also ends. The Japanese division of Sony has announced that the production and distribution of the PS3 in Japan will soon end.

As expected, the best console, the PS3 sold exactly in its homeland, where she handed over the position by the number of copies sold during the first year, even the highly successful PlayStation 4. Of course, now the situation is completely on the side of the PS4, but the fact that the PS3 was successful for Sony, not take away.

At the moment, however, it is unknown that the decision to cease production and sales of PS3 in Japan will mean for the Western market, but we can assume that Sony shortly after this stop the spread of the previous generation console in other markets. And given the fact that in addition to the original version of the PlayStation 4 have already appeared and the PlayStation 4 Slim (more compact and slightly improved) and PlayStation 4 (with support for 4K resolution in games and in General more powerful than the previous versions), it becomes clear that Sony is already ready to leave the past and concentrate its resources on supporting the current generation of consoles.

In General, the situation in consoles, PS4 looks much better against its main competitor in the face of the Xbox One from Microsoft. The latest data on the Japanese console (1 January 2017) saying that the console sold worldwide circulation of 53.4 million copies. Information about the Xbox One, in turn (in January 2016), talking about 18 million sold consoles. Now the situation for Xbox One should be definitely better (especially after the release of the Slim version of the console, which managed to get rid of some of the shortcomings of the original version), but Microsoft for some reason reluctant to share figures of its sales statistics.
