Source:Analysts Jon Peddie Research (JPR) has prepared a report which has published data concerning the sales of AMD and NVIDIA. According to information provided in the document, last year AMD managed to increase the production of graphics cards and reduce the gap in sales with NVIDIA, its closest competitor.
According to the estimates of analysts from Jon Peddie Research (JPR), for 2017 were sold about 3 million cards, the amount of the sale which amounted to around 776 million dollars. JPR notes that by the end of the year, AMD increased sales of their products by 8.1 percent, whereas NVIDIA has reduced this figure by about 6 percent for a number of reasons, one of which — the lack of components necessary for the production «top» graphic adapters.
From the report of the JPR follows that the bulk of purchased cards are still gamers, and not , although the percentage of the latter is also very large. Analysts believe that demand for graphics cards among gamers will increase, while the miners will prefer graphics cards, specialized devices, so the end of the year, the proportion of gamers among consumer graphics cards will only increase.
The percentage of the demand for graphics cards in the fourth quarter difficult to predict, but judging by the dynamics, the balance will be about the same as last year. GPU shipments in the fourth quarter of 2017 decreased by 1.5 percent, and for the whole year fell by almost 4.8 percent.
