Smart glasses will show you the video without killing the battery Source:

Smart glasses with camera «soared» for a number of reasons. Whether it's a clumsy design, ban or simply a lack of practical application on the streets while the smart glasses nobody goes. There is another but: smart glasses need a big battery that will support streaming video, so points are bound to be huge. It's no joke: even charge smartphone enough hardly for a day and the smartphone is rather big invention. But there is a solution. Scientists from the University of Washington have built a method of streaming, which consumes up to 10,000 times less energy than traditional methods. The trick is to unload most of the heavy work to another device, using the smart wireless transmission.

Conventional cameras, generally need to process and compress video before transmission over a wireless network. The new approach directly attaches to the pixels from the camera to a wireless antenna and uses backscatter (i.e. reflection of signals sent to the device) to send data pulse on the nearest phone or PC which will take care of the processing. Devices that use backscatter, already exist, but until now were limited to the applications of sensors are limited to small volumes of transmitted data; the new approach can handle video at 720p.

In the near future you will not have to distribute a video with your smart glasses. The current experimental prototype smart glasses is limited to 10 frames per second at distances up to six meters. But the practical application is already very obvious. You will be able to wear smart glasses and wearable cameras with much smaller batteries or no batteries at all, if they receive energy from the radio signals (Yes, this is possible and has already been used). And this, in turn, can lead to the emergence of wearable cameras in unusual places. Scientists already imagine sports games where each athlete's a camera in his buttonhole, which does not aggravates. Sports camera the first person can be a new form of entertainment.
