Scientists have created tiny brains put into robots. Yes, the future has arrived!

Yes, you read correctly. Scientists have actually grown a small brain, representing cellular structures which emit brain waves. To capture neural activity, they were placed in a spider-like robot who was sent into space. Those little brains are tiny cell structures that perform specialized functions. They are called organelles. The organelles include ribosomes, chromosomes, mitochondria and other components of cells. In the laboratory of the University of California scientists have turned human skin cells into stem cells and then achieved that organelles developed as the brain cells in the embryo. Is the future arrived?

Why grow the organelles?

It All started six years ago. It was then that scientists first created brain organoid from human skin cells. Today they are grown in laboratories around the world. This gives scientists the opportunity to look afresh at the early stage of the development of the human brain.

Organelles, which are now in space, after all the operations have turned into balls about the size of a pinhead, each of which contains hundreds of thousands of cells of different types. Each of which, in turn, produces the same chemical and electrical signals and the cells in our brain.

And you knew about the existence of a robot that

NASA has sent the organelles directly on Board the International space station to see how they will develop in weightlessness. Put them in a metal box along with a packet of nutrient broth. Experts believe that at this stage the organelles grow incredibly fast.

But the most interesting is that scientists were able to record simple brain waves emanating from the organelles. Brain waves is complex patterns of neural activity. They are created in the adult human brain simultaneous networks of neurons. Specific brain patterns appear when we dream or reminisce.

Scientists recorded the brain waves of these tiny organelles in brain and also found that as they Mature, the changes of the waves are reminiscent of changes in the developing brain of preterm infants. Whether this puts researchers a number of complex ethical issues, do you think? Let's discuss that .

Transplant brain into robot

The study's Lead author Dr. Priscilla Muotri and her colleagues are testing different ways of stimulating organelles, so they began to develop more complex neural networks. In one experiment, they placed the organelles in a small robot in the shape of a spider. The computer translated the electrical activity of organoid in the instructions, having received which, the little spider robot started to move his feet.

the rape machine in the laboratory of the University of California, who spoke with organoidom through the computer.

To understand what it is approaching to the wall during motion, the robot used sensors that determine its location. Computer transmit these signals to organoid in the form of electrical impulses.

To date, scientists can not yet say whether these experiments on the further development of organelles. Even more dizzying stories read on .

h2>Secrets of the human brain

As you know, the brain is the most complex organ in the human body. Scientists are still guessing about many aspects of its work. And this is why the organelles are so attractive — these relatively simple neural balls mimic some of the characteristics of a full-fledged brain. But a new study published Thursday in the journal Cell, suggests that the organelles can have a more complex structure than previously thought.

The data Obtained may be an indication that scientists are approaching the ability to generate at least partially conscious life in the laboratory. If so, neuroscientists will have to face a serious ethical dilemma — continued experiments may indicate the creation and destruction of the conscious, living, human-like.

Many scientists refer to such assumptions of skeptical, but the study's author urges his colleagues to think carefully about what they can create, albeit unintentionally. And how do you think the organelles have consciousness?
