Criminal minds. Offenders can be calculated by the image of the brain Source:

According to an article recently published in the Guardian, a group of neurologists from Virgin medical-technological research Institute of the Carillon was able to establish the difference in the brain of the real criminals and those who commit an offence unintentionally. It is enough just to perform the brain.

During a series of experiments, scientists scanned brains of 40 people, each of whom was asked to carry through the imaginary border of the suitcase. Some of the participants informed that the case contains drugs. The others didn't that sneaked through "the border", but suspected that doing something illegal. In addition, the situation was complicated by the fact that none of the subjects did not know whether «customs» conduct a complete inspection and «customs» randomly choose one of the people that must be subjected to inspection. During the experiments, the team led by Reid Montague conducted MRI brain scans to all participants of the experiment. As it turned out, during the Commission of the crime those people who knowingly broke the law, and those who were «a criminal in captivity» show the activity of neurons from different parts of the brain.

According to experts, naturally, such a study requires further research, and on the basis of data obtained from all 40 people, early to draw any conclusions. But, if successful, such a survey can give a new tool for solving crimes. In addition, at the moment it is still unclear whether it is possible to reconstruct the mental state of a person in a few weeks or months after the crime, according to the data obtained it was possible to install that accidentally or intentionally the person has committed a wrongful act.
