MIT physicists have learned how to extract water from dry air

The inhabitants of the arid regions of the Earth continue to experience problems with access to clean and fresh water. This issue remains relevant largely due to the fact that existing water treatment processes are quite energy intensive and expensive, so applying them can afford not all. The situation can correct the invention of physicists from the Massachusetts Institute of technology, together with specialists from the University of Berkeley have created a device that can extract fresh water from even dry air using solar energy.

Vodootvedenija System consists of solar panels, reservoir and ground particles of metal-organic frameworks from Zirconia and adipic acid, intensively absorbing water molecules. Inside the water is not retained, as under the influence of solar energy, it turns to steam and condenseries in a special container.

Now the device can produce out of thin air with 20% humidity for about three liters of water a day, but the developers plan to improve the performance, making his invention even more effective.
