Elon Musk told how to survive the third world war

Speaking at the SXSW festival in Texas, SpaceX founder Elon Musk said about the importance of working towards the construction of space settlements on Mars and the moon. In the case of a third world war, which will not be without the use of nuclear weapons, these stations can become the backbone for the revival of human civilization.

In his opinion, a colony on Mars and a base on the moon "can help to reinstate life on Earth" and it is important to organize them "to potential third world war".

Earlier, the head of SpaceX has announced that his company is developing new multi-purpose missile for space flight. In addition, other modification of the same missile can be used for flights from one point on Earth to another. In this case, the journey will take less than one hour in any direction. According to the Mask, this project is very important and therefore, to create a BFR (the so-called rocket) uses all achievements of the company.

Of Course, the main purpose of the BFR will be the delivery of goods and people to Mars and the moon. The rocket launch will be carried out refueling in earth orbit, after which it will continue the path to the desired destination.

Speaking at SXSW, Musk said that flight tests of the second stage heavy reusable space system BFR will take place in the first half of 2019. This element, according to the plans of SpaceX, is actually to be a manned spacecraft mounted on the first stage of BFR. Musk, however, admitted that his predictions are "often positive." And something can always go wrong.

Earlier it was reported that the company plans by 2022 to send the two Mars cargo mission. In their framework, will be a study of possible technical problems posting on the planet and search for water.
