China plans to test a space drone is solar powered

Looks Like drones will soon be used for operations not only in the earth's atmosphere, but in space. At least, according to news Agency Xinhua, engineers at the China aerospace Academy to lay big hopes on them. In 2017 they plan to launch the first drone on a solar battery which will be able to move within the near-earth space.

The drone was Developed by a team of engineers headed by Shi Wanggom. At the moment, the test sample has successfully completed a series of test flights in earth conditions and in full swing preparing for the launch into orbit. The exact technical characteristics of the device at the moment, but we know that the wingspan of the UAV exceeds the wingspan of an airliner Boeing 737, and in the course of a series of experiments on the Ground, the flight speed was up to 150-200 kilometers per hour. According to Shi Vanga

«it is the world's second solar-powered UAV after a similar machine that is NASA. Our drone can fly at very high altitudes for quite a long time without recharging».

Space drone, the assurances of engineers, will be used mainly for long-range radar detection, aerial reconnaissance, disaster monitoring, meteorological observations, as well as in the field of telecommunications and relay communications. It should be noted that the layout of the apparatus was first presented to the public in 2016 in the framework of the aerospace salon Airshow China — 2016 which was held in Zhuhai.
