Russian scientists were able to speed up and cheapen the process of obtaining gold

Getting from the ore is time – consuming and lengthy process. Today one of the most popular ways of gold recovery is the direct cyanidation using the ability of gold to react with cyanide in the presence of oxygen. There is another amalgamation with the use of mercury and alkaline regeneration. On average, one ounce of gold (31.1 grams) gold mining companies cost 800 dollars, and its market price reaches 1200 dollars. But Russian scientists have developed a technology that can reduce the cost of gold by as much as 30-40%.

Researchers from National research technology Institute MISIS, together with colleagues from China has created its own method of extracting gold from ore on the basis of the ammonia-cyanide leaching. High grade oxidized copper often increases the cost of the extraction process, but the new method allows the significant economy of reagents in this process. This allows not only to reduce the costs of gold, but also to accelerate the extraction process is four to eight times. And here it is, you see, quite a serious breakthrough.

The Technology have already tested on the field "Taror" located in Tajikistan. The ore in this area contains a high percentage of copper, which is quite difficult to remove by conventional methods. New method ammonia cyanide leaching has reduced the time of extraction of gold from 100-120 hours to 14-18. The creators of the technique claim that this technology can be safely used on all Russian oil fields. Another area of application of the new method of extraction may be the processing of electronic scrap and computer equipment.
