In recent years, cameras built into smartphones, are sometimes so impressive performance that I wonder: how did we ever managed a simple 0.3-megapixel camera in any of Siemens CX65? But the limit of perfection, as we all know, no, and recently Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation introduced the CMOS sensor of a new type, which includes elements of digital signal processing and dynamic memory DRAM. A distinctive feature of CMOS sensors is that it allows you to make a video with speeds up to 960 frames per second. The little CPU load on the device gives the possibility to use it even in smartphones.

Interesting in the first place is the device new sensor. If «common» sensors have two layers (located on the first photosensitive elements and the second — the chip doing the processing and conversion of signals), the engineers at Sony have added a third layer. It consists of cells of a dynamic memory DRAM, and additional digital logic elements. With the addition of these parts and the resolution of 19.3 megapixels, the sensor has the ability to shoot video with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 resolution at 960 frames per second. The size of the device is 1 by 2.3 inches. On its surface contains 21.2 million pixel size of 1.22 microns. Images can have an aspect ratio of 4:3 and 16:9 and resolution from 1,71 to the already mentioned 19.3 megapixels.

In addition, the camera supports all the most modern communication standards and interfaces, and the digital circuit includes an analog-to-digital Converter, subprocessor, processor, and schema, interface of the sensor with external devices. Without the presence of the additional sensor dynamic memory, its speed is limited by the speed of the data interface.
